Famous for the Chamonix / Kandahar World Cup downhill race, Les Houches is much more than just a World Cup ski area. Tree line skiing and magnificent views of the Chamonix Valley below, and the Mont Blanc Massif above, this really is a great area for all abilities and perfect for families.

Off-piste it’s the perfect practice ground, whether skiing from the top of the Prarion mountain or tracking through the trees.

A must ski / snowboard area for its sunshine and challenging pistes. The Bozon is a must for the advanced skier and snowboarder, not only for the view across the Chamonix Valley , but for the 'serious challenge' it presents.

Off-piste consists of the Col and steep couloirs. Check out the couloirs below the Plan Praz cable-car on the way up which surprisingly do get skied and frequented by snowboarders! With a selection of reds and blues, and being south facing this is also a great place for intermediates.

South facing it has a variety of runs to suit all abilities and some stunning views across the mountain at the Mont Blanc. With a good selection of green, blue, red, and black runs, it is particularly popular with families.

Off-piste it’s quite a favourite with skiers and snowboarders. Whilst steep, it benefits from some great off-piste runs that are wide (e.g. Combe Lachenal) and in the right conditions are 'picture perfect'.

A haven for beginners and intermediates, with less demanding slopes and gradients than other areas in the valley.

Off-piste is mainly through the trees and there are some great drops into Vallorcine for expert skiers.

Many now combine a morning ski in Le Tour and then pop over into Vallorcine by the Swiss border. With its tree line skiing and a truly authentic mountain village it feels in many respects like you are taking a step back in time.

Off-piste it offers some great couloirs and gullies for the off-piste skier.

For intermediates and advanced skiers, a visit to Chamonix would not be complete without a trip down the Vallée Blanche with a Mountain Guide. 17km long and a descent of 2,800m, it offers spectacular scenery with peaks shaped liked needles, snow bridges crossing crevasses, seracs and fresh powder on its variant routes.

PLEASE NOTE: We strongly recommend that all skiers venturing off-piste do so under the guidance and instruction of a qualified Mountain Guide from the region.
