Easter skiing at Chalet Prarion

Easter Ski Holidays

A great time to ski, Easter typically brings warmer, longer days whilst snow conditions in the high altitude ski resort of the Chamonix Valley are often some of the best of the season after the accumulation of numerous snowfall the months previous.

Growing in popularity, Easter skiing is a great time to make the most of the lighter days and for family ski groups, the warmer weather provides the opportunity for younger ones to make the most of spring days to spend longer on the slopes learning to ski.

Easter Ski Holidays

With the longer spring days that are typically warmer and sunnier than earlier in the season, Chamonix, with its high altitude skiing (3,842m off-piste and 3,275m on piste) and excellent snow record, skiing Easter is fast becoming one of the most popular ski week as clients capitalise on the bank holiday weekend to enjoy some spring skiing and for families to enjoy a family ski holiday in the warmer weather whilst the children are on their school holdays.

Ski Easter At Chamonix Exclusive

At Chalet Prarion, our extensive service and great facilities will certainly ensure a memorable Easter ski holiday. The on call driver can advise and recommend the sunniest / best slopes, where to eat to enjoy the beautiful warm ski days,  and collect you when you ready for some apres-ski, alfresco style in one of Chamonix's historic streets. And parents of family ski groups won't need to feel left out, at 4.30pm the children (if you so wish), can be collected by the driver and the children's entertainer for an evening entertainment with nanny. Then of course there is the Games Room with its full sized pool table for endless hours of fun during the Easter ski holidays, and for parents and / or friends, the sunken kuxury hot tub on the south facing decking.

Family Skiing At Easter

Skiing Easter for families makes a great deal of sense as children particularly enjoy this time of year as typically the days are warmer and they therefore just love being out in the spring sunshine and the beautiful, warm Easter ski days. The longer days also allow for more playtime for the children and at Chalet Prarion the extensive grounds are well used for playtime, and the customary Easter egg hunt organised by the nanny / children's entertainer.

Skiing Easter Generally

We are often asked, what is it like to ski at Easter, to which we reply 'it was the best kept secret in the Alps'. Sadly the secret is no longer such, and more and more families and friends are recognising the opportunity Easter skiing presents. That said, whilst slopes are busier than non peak weeks, they are still pleasantly quiet in comparison to the other busy weeks such as Christmas, the New Year, and half term ski weeks.

We have already mentioned the warmer, typically sunnier days (although on two out of the last three Easter's we have had snow and some days colder than January and February), but what about the snow. Don't be surprised to arrive and find fresh snow, snowfall seems to be getting later and later, with the first falls November rather than December for some reason, and this is having a knock on effect it seems with March and April getting more snow than we can ember for this time of year. This year (2010) we had 50cm of snow and three seasons (2008) ago a metre. This said, and again we will use the typically, Easter skiing is based on great mornings where you ski hard, and more relaxed afternoons as the snow soften. By mid afternoon (3.30pm to 4.30pm), skiers will often choose to depart the slopes for the apres-ski bars, and being Chamonix, there are plenty to frequent down its ancient streets, so something for everyone (and don't forget our on call driver will be on hand to collect your skis, change shoes, etc, so need for the usual ski carrying problem).
